Sametra, a native Detroiter, has been a performer in some respect since she could walk. She began to act on her passion for performing at the age of 5. She studied jazz and modern dance from elementary to high school. At age 11 she joined Spirit of the Moment Praise Dance Company under the direction of Sondra Jackson. Spirit of the Moment offered dance technique, performance opportunity and a spiritual uplifting. After studying under Ms. Jackson for 10 years, Sametra became the Assistant Director and one the choreographers for the company. Sametra continued her passion for performing and went into acting and eventually modeling. Sametra has performed with the gospel stage plays, “Perilous Times”, “A Ticket To Heaven”, “Gotta Find Me An Angel”, “The Good the Bad and My Mother”, “Drama in the Shop” and has toured national with “All Men Can‘t Be Dogs”, “Tell Hell I ain’t comin”, “Too Good to Let Good”, “Addicted to your Love” and “A Bird in Flight.” Sametra also was the Choreographer for “Perilous Times II: A Game for Fools”, "Jesus the Son of Joseph" and “Rhythmic Nation” Sametra has shared the stage with such renowned people as: John Amos, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Tommy Ford, William Murphy III, Tevin Campbell, Shirley Murdock, Denise Williams, Lil’G, Karen Clark Sheards, Michael Coylar, A.J Johnson, Chrystale Wilson, Jackee Harry, Ann Nesby, Chico Debarge and Ali Woodson. She has done national runway and promotional modeling for DaDa Urban Wear and Moci Collection, in addition to local work for established and up-in-coming fashion designers of Detroit. As much as she loves the stage Sametra has learned some off stage talents as well. Sametra has added make artistry to her talent bank as well as stage management, and model coordination. In the midst of her performing arts career, Sametra managed to earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Michigan. Sametra thanks God for her spiritual and natural talents and will never take them for granted!
