Wendy's mother started Wendy dancing at age five. Wendy studied ballet, tap and jazz dance under the direction of Gwendolyn Smith at Northwest School of Dance for ten years, presently known as, Artistry in Motion. She participated in a competitive dance troupe that competed nationally to earn many awards within the National America Pageants Systems. Wendy's professional performances include Purlie Victorious, Nutcracker Ballet, For Colored Girls and West Side Story. After high school, Wendy earned a theater scholarship to attend Eastern Michigan University. Wendy doubled her major to include dance and she started an on campus African American dance group entitled Eclipse. During her time at Eastern, her secular dance life was wonderfully interrupted when Wendy received salvation. She then made a decision to only dance to worship and praise the Lord. The consequence of her decision was that dance completely stopped for Wendy because her church circles did not accept praise dance during that time; therefore, Wendy gave up dance fully. She felt if she was not allowed to praise God in the dance, she would not dance at all! Wendy focused her attention on her career and starting a family. She earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in communications and theater arts and she went on to become a College Instructor in those areas. Wendy got married to a wonderful man (Leslie) and has two teen sons (Les IV and Elles). Seventeen years had passed since Wendy made the decision to give up dance, but in July of 2007, to Wendy's amazement, God brought dance back into her life through the anointed Spirit of the Moment and God gave Wendy the desire of her heart and made her dreams come true! Wendy now dances with Spirit of the Moment and she teaches an after school dance group called "Jubilee" at Southfield Christian School. Wendy is finally able to freely and openly praise God in the dance and Wendy's testimony is that: God is Faithful! |
